Calling On Angels (Apna Arts)

'Calling On Angels’ – directed by professional director Zam Nasreen and produced by Mona Media in collaboration with Apna Arts performed at Lakeside Theatre.
Under the guidance of professionals, the Xpressions team were responsible for all aspects of the show, including staging, lighting, sound and live film projection. The result was a slick show of a professional standard with ‘much promise’ (Evening Post).
New Audience Development: The show attracted a huge response from the local communities meant that demand exceeded ticket capacity by three times. For many, the show marked a first time theatre experience. Audiences included a large amount of people from the Pakistani communities and also attracted audiences from Derby and Leicester. A large group of students from Manning Girls School also attended the performance.

Manning Girls School - A one off workshop working with young people who had attended the performance this marked the beginning of creating more Asian theatre awareness in schools. The workshop explored issues of the play focusing on teenage identity and bi-culturalism.
