Double Dialogues (Apna Arts)
1997
As part of the Now 97 Festival project A Day in the life of Nottingham the artist Said Adrus worked with a group of young South Asians from APNA Arts.
Under the working title of “Double Dialogues” Said examined the themes of ‘partition’ and ‘religious divide’ as well as exploring the views, feelings, doubts and anxieties of the British Asians about the 50th Anniversary.
Essentially it is an “experiment” of contact/dialogues by young British South Asians using a variety of art forms to create artwork for the web site.
The participating group worked very hard towards producing the artwork for the web site.
The work involved creating a series of collages in the style of the cinema hoarding of the Indian Film Industry “Bollywood”.
The source material included text, photographs, sound and music consisting of debates and interviews.
