Local Youngsters Invited to ‘Shake, Rattle & Roll’
Children under five – plus their parents, carers and family members - are invited to come and ‘Shake, Rattle & Roll’ in South Holland Centre in Spalding on Wednesday 18 August.
The day will include two family music-making sessions (10.00am-12.00 and 2.00pm-4.00pm), each with a nominal charge of £3 per child. Run by specialist music facilitators from soundLINCS – Lincolnshire Music Development Agency – the sessions are intended as ‘tasters’ for the regular weekly workshops which are due to start in South Holland Centre on Wednesday mornings in September.
Although aimed at toddlers and pre-school children, older brothers and sisters are welcome to attend as part of family groups. Accompanying adults are expected to stay for the whole session. To book places, call in to the South Holland Centre in Spalding Market Place, telephone the box office on 01775 764777, or visit www.southhollandcentre.co.uk
Spalding’s ‘Shake, Rattle & Roll’ workshops are part of the First Notes project which soundLINCS continues to deliver to pre-school settings across Lincolnshire under its sound52 Youth Music Action Zone (YMAZ) programme. This is supported by a raft of funding bodies including national charity Youth Music, the Arts Council, Lincolnshire County Council and the county’s borough and district councils.
More information on music-making opportunities for young people in Lincolnshire, and details on training for adults who work with children, is available at www.soundlincs.org or by calling 01522 510073.
