Art For Society’s Sake - a celebration of creative social enterprises

A half-day of performances by social enterprises operating within the creative industries.

VENUE: Nottingham Contemporary, Weekday Cross, Nottingham NG1 2GB

DATE: Monday 15th November 10am – 1:30pm

COST: Free, including lunch

Each act will have around 10 minutes each to demonstrate how they are using their art for the benefit of society. The event will include dance, video, music, theatre, juggling as well as time to network and discuss the issues raised with each of the social enterprises.

  • 1623 theatre company - delivering The Great Shakespearean Workout 2010, a fun aerobics class awarded the London 2012 Inspire Mark for bringing together art and fitness www.1623theatre.co.uk

  • Fifth Word - specialising in producing the best new plays incorporating multi-media technology to provide a theatre experience for the 21st century. www.fifthword.co.uk

  • Jestival CIC – enriching and educating communities through circus, music and drama. www.jestival.co.uk

  • Mandinga CIC - supporting intercultural dialogue and community cohesion through group-based arts activities.

  • Salamanda Tandem - 21 years of making art work with people. www.salamanda-tandem.org

  • Samanya Enrich - encouraging people to develop their own personal approach to growth through experiential creative learning.

  • SEND Project - community urban arts project providing a diverse range of creative educational projects and workshops to vulnerable young people and adults. www.sendproject.com

  • Young Potential - creative arts for the community, working with vulnerable adults, young people at risk and the wider community. www.youngpotential.org.uk

Funded by Unleashing Enterprise (UE), this is a partnership event with East Midlands School for Social Entrepreneurs and is aimed at all those with an interest in social enterprise.
