BrightSparks Arts in Mental Health Group presents

EMPAF are collating examples of programmes of work or projects that have been funded to meet Local Area Agreement (LAA) National Indicators (NI's) to use for advocacy and raising awareness of the community and participatory arts in relation to LAA's with key stakeholders.

The EMPAF website will soon include new features such as specific issue based and geographical interest groups and a directory with more advance search mechanism. The development of these is underway right now and will be launched in the next couple of weeks.

The next free EMPAF Network Event takes place on Wednesday 27th January from 10.30am to 3pm at The Palace Theatre, Newark

Act Up is looking for any one who is interested in working with young people in a youth theatre setting to get involved and volunteer with Act Up. "Passion, Partnerships and Empowering" the one day, National Conference exploring and celebrating partnership working and the participatory arts on 16th October at Derby QUAD will now feature a resident performance poets for delegates to stick comments to.

October 10th,2009 is National Drawing Day, otherwise known as THE BIG DRAW. ART-CELL (Steve - and in this case Melissa)) is holding its own big draw event in Hinckley Market. !000 postcard sized cards for the public to scribble, doodel,draw, write or otherwise deface artistically in order to take part in a national arts event. Starts around 9.00 and ends either when stock runs out or 4.00 p.m., whichever comes sooner. Funded by Hinckley & Bosworth Council.

Growing Bolder have teamed up with County Youth Arts for a week long project bringing together the two age groups they work with; 14 to 18 year olds and ages 60+.

Mantle Arts have recently received support from The National Forest, to run a project for NW Leicestershire adults with experience of mental health issues. Into the Forest will use visual art, photography and poetry to create work inspired by sites around The National Forest. Based in Coalville and working with a range of artists, workshops will run from late June 09 to September 09, culminating in an exhibition at Snibston Discovery Park. ‘How Do You Look?’ :arts based action research project aimed at young people, exploring body esteem. Lead artist Jan Flamank, the second pilot project will go live at Tibshelf Community School beginning in June.
