Salamanda Tandem and Drake Music are running two consultation seminars aimed at Arts, Health and Care Professional who are interested in arts, and disability work in Nottinghamshire. Taking place on it's all about how we can help support and develop a fertile arts and disability practice in Nottinghamshire over the next few years. We have been commissioned by Nottinghamshire County Council's Arts Service, to undertake a consultation project with both experienced professionals and other artists who may be new to the field but are interested in reaching disabled people through the arts in Nottinghamshire. For development to happen we need to look at what the barriers are for arts, health and carer professionals working in Nottinghamshire - e.g. work opportunities, funding, volunteering, training issues etc and would therefore like to know your thoughts. To celebrate 20 years of salamanda tandem we plan to launch Project 20 in the autumn 2009; a 2 year regional tour that takes articles, site specific performances and provocations into new buildings. Also be setting up our first volunteer scheme for emerging Nottinghamshire artists who want to learn how to reach disabled people through contemporary arts and performance - we believe the only way to learn is by experiencing the work from the inside! So do get in touch, let others know, or come and meet us at the Nottinghamshire seminar if interested in this project. The seminars are being conducted by Salamanda Tandem and Drake Music, and there will be a series of focussed questions to discuss. If you can't make either event but would like to contribute, we can send out the questions to you via email, or if you'd rather have a chat by telephone that would be great too. To get take part please RSVP to isabel.jones@salamanda-tandem.org by July 10th 2009. | |
