Beginners' courses in modern (Western) square dancing are available in various towns in the region starting in September. All lead to at least Mainstream level of the Callerlab syllabus (visit www.callerlab.org and go to Dance Programs to see what this entails). Dixie Derby SDC in Beeston accepts beginners all year round. This is a great opportunity for anyone who is looking for a new, low-cost hobby that can be practised in a number of countries or who wishes to learn to teach square dancing in schools or youth clubs, or in adult education (see also my notice about Square Dance Caller training). Some clubs also teach round dancing.
