'Careers in the creative industry - What are we going to do?’

What are the real benefits of a creative education? Is having a degree enough and can Universities do more?

What are the options and opportunities for careers in the creative industry in Lincolnshire?

How can the wider creative industry in Lincolnshire support students and graduates and also benefit themselves?

To answer the above questions and more, we would like to invite you to join us for a unique one-day Open Space event, where creative individuals and organisations from across the county creative sector can meet students and early-career graduates to explore, challenge and discuss important issues around careers in the creative industry – whilst also creating new conversations and new thinking around career opportunities in the county that can mutually support creative organisations, students and early career graduates.

Over the past five years, there has been a steady increase in the numbers of graduates choosing to develop their careers in Lincolnshire, which is growing a new dimension to the county sector. What needs to happen to ensure this continues to increase in the future? Is it all about developing the physical infrastructure with studio and performance spaces or are there other key factors? The long-term impacts of graduates developing their careers in Lincolnshire both to the creative sector and wider county economy are highly significant – how do we make it all happen? What opportunities are currently out there and what opportunities could be out there?

Lincolnshire is a very exciting to be place to be at the moment for the arts, culture and creative sector and this event is a chance to share your views, shape new opportunities and work together to turn ‘potential’ into ‘reality’ and make a significant impact on the development of the county creative sector.

At Open Space events, the participants create their own conversations around a central theme, which for this event is ‘Careers in the creative industry – What are we going to do?’ Open Space events allows diverse groups of people to get together to share ideas, discuss issues, pool knowledge and resources and develop plans for collaborative action. Open Space events have four guiding principles – ‘Whoever comes to the event are the right people’‘Whatever happens is the only thing that could have’ – ‘Whenever it starts is the right time’ – ‘When its over its over’. ‘Be prepared to be surprised’ at open space events – you never quite know what’s going to happen – but amazing and inspirational things often do….

We would like to invite you to join us for this unique event on 8th November 2012 at the Lincoln Drill Hall, 10.00am – 3.00pm. Tickets are free and are available at the following link - http://www.eventbrite.com/event/3918787198
