Europe for Citizens Programme: opportunities for community and voluntary organisations

Deadline: 15 February 2010

Each year, the European Union invites applications from community and volunteer organisations under the Europe for Citizens Programme.

The funding is based on joint initiatives between community and voluntary groups across different countries.

Projects can include the organisation of seminars, workshops, joint publications, information campaigns, training events, grassroot projects, debates and networking between community and voluntary groups.

In order to be funded the subject covered by the project must relate to one of the Programme’s themes:

  • The Future of Europe
  • Active Citizenship, Democracy, and Citizen Participation
  • Intercultural Dialogue, Tolerance, Respecting Cultural Diversity and combating Racism and Xenophobia
  • Social cohesion, social inclusion, competitiveness, sustainable development
  • The impact of EU policies (such as in the areas of equal opportunities and fundamental rights, environment, etc)

There are also particular priorities for 2010 including projects relevant to the EU Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion.
