Freelance visual artist, Rushcliffe Borough Council
Rushcliffe Borough Council, as part of the South Nottinghamshire Community Safety Partnership, is looking to engage a visual artist to work with seven secondary schools in the Rushcliffe area to deliver a creative project on the theme of alcohol misuse.

The artist will be expected to engage with a group of Year 10 pupils in each school to create a piece of artwork around 12 different themes/key messages related to alcohol misuse, such as pregnancy, personal safety, domestic violence etc.

The artist will be expected to liaise with the schools to organise a suitable day and/or lessons for the creative workshop to be delivered, with completion of the project by the end of October 2010. The finished items of artwork should be suitable to be photographed and made it to a calendar.

The fee for this work will be £1500, to include no less than seven days practical work within the schools and a half day spent evaluating the project. (note: the work could be delivered in one full day or split in to two half days, this can be organised with the individual schools as to what works best for both parties.)

The artist must have experience working with young people in a secondary school environment. Experience working on health themed projects and the issues effecting young people and alcohol would be an advantage. The artist should have undergone an enhanced CRB check within the last three years and maintain their own public liability insurance cover. A separate fee for materials will be negotiated.

Expressions of interest in the project and CVs should be received by Friday 6th August. Please email arts@rushcliffe.gov.uk <mailto:arts@rushcliffe.gov.uk> or write to Arts and Culture Team, Rushcliffe Borough Council, Civic Centre, Pavilion Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 5FE.

Short-listed artists will be invited to meet the project managers on Wednesday 18th August at the Civic Centre in West Bridgford.
