Gigantes (Charnwood Arts)
Take chicken wire, plaster, clay, some wood, cardboard, some friends and a little imagination - mix them all together with fun, and getting grubby and you too could have your very own carnival giant.
Made in the traditional Catalan way through workshops at St Peter's Community Centre, the Shree Ram Krishna Centre, Cobden School and Charnwood Day Centre artists Chris Thomas, Shevonne Hutchins and Jonas Wheeler helped a number of groups to create Gigantes for Charnwood events.
The giants, (including 'Captain Jake' appearing here) made appearances at 'Streets Alive', the Woodhouse Eaves bed race, Mountsorrel Gala and the Watermead Park Family Day.
A fifth giant - 'Edith' was made with Loughborough based group Womenspace to appear in their latest play!
