Hope magazine design project (Next Stage)
Clients at Worksop’s Homeless drop in centre and support charity worked with graphics and new media organisation Urban-Shade to create a client led magazine. The magazine ‘Hope 4 U’ aims to raise awareness of issues faced by homeless people and those managing substance misuse problems in Bassetlaw.
Two editions of the magazine have been created, with people gaining experience in a wide range of new skills, from article writing, photography and design and layout.
Michelle Russell, Hope’s day service manager say’s of the project
“Having met James through a course organised by the B.C.V.S, I invited James to come and look round Hope and discuss any projects that we could work together on. After consultation with the client group we discussed a development of the community magazine that the clients would put together themselves, both in writing articles and developing digital camera and design skills. With the support and guidance of James and Adam Sporne from Urban Shade the clients felt very relaxed and got on very well with both of them. Clients felt very involved and managed to engage in projects that they normally would be excluded from.”
