Deirdre O'Byrne

Information

I teach literature at Loughborough University. I specialise in Irish literature, and also teach 19th- & 20th-century  women's writing, and multicultural British fiction. I enjoy giving community talks, workshops and readings on these topic areas, and have worked for several festivals, libraries and arts groups in the Midlands region since 2003. The profile photo shows me dressed for a Bloomsday reading in Northampton.

I am Chair of Nottingham Irish Studies Group and have organised study days and short courses on Irish culture. I also do occasional Irish storytelling for children. I set up the Facebook group 'East Midlands Irish Forum' to encourage networking in our region.  Find out how we celebrate Patrick's Day by clicking 'like' on our 'Nottingham Patrick's Day Festival' page.
