EMMA MILLER
ARTIST PROFILE
I am a skilled arts worker who is capable of setting up, co-ordinating and running workshops in a variety of fields. Much of my work has been community based, working with clients such as the homeless, young offenders, refugee women, Melton Mencap and in schools. I am used to working with both children and adult learners.
I am experienced in teaching and presenting projects and workshops in a wide range of subjects, including arts and crafts, creative writing, sculpture, print-making, sewing and textiles. I have good construction and woodworking skills. I am I also teach digital photography and computing skills in my role as tutor at Leicester YMCA Advice and Support Centre, which caters for homeless clients. This role also involves helping individual with lifeskills, including writing CV's and job searches.
As a free-lance arts worker and a practising artist, I have been involved with supervising and setting up exhibitions as well as co-ordinating publicity. I am versatile and adaptable, with a wide range of skills, which I can develop and utilise to suit the individual needs of each client. I am a proficient worker with key skills, used to working under pressure, as an individual or part of a group project.
I have worked on a range of projects for different organisations, including;
Soft Touch Arts - Braid Refugee Womens Project, Babies of the World, No fixed Adode Project, Youth Offending Project, Babington School, Mela and King Richards School projects, Belgrave Hall Sculpture day.
Leicester YMCA - Digital Photography, Computers, Creative Writing, Art and Design, co-ordinating exhibitions and working on Learners Day.
Leicester City Council - Play schemes,Summer Arts Projects, Linwood Centre Women's Group - teaching crafts, working with pensioners groups.
Melton Mencap- Art and Design workshops with adults with learning disablities. Working with children at Birchwood Special Needs School in Melton Mowbray.
Melton Borough Council - Egerton Sports and Community Day, Melton Youth Day.
Sure Start - Art and Design workshops.
