Sean Coupe

My name is Sean Coupe, I am a professional artist, illustrator and proprietor of Imagine Arts.

Imagine arts is a private art school based in the heart of sherwood forest, it is from here that I teach a varied cross section of people who  wish to learn how to paint and draw. Classes include watercolour for beginners and intermediate level, acrylic, drawing, line and wash, pastel and life drawing. I offer both ten week course and one day taster courses. Class numbers in the studio are limited to six to allow a greater degree of one to one guidance.

I am more than happy to lead workshops at any venue.

Since launching Imagine arts I have also been involved in the local community as  a team member and creative activity leader at SHINE After School Club which is run by the Meden family of schools.

I use both traditional and modern approaches to  commissioned artwork and illustrations.I am a published cartoonist and caricaturist.

My career history to date

I studied and trained in Nottinghamshire as a graphic designer, this has been my career path for the past 23 years. I started out working in the art department of a local newspaper hand rendering visuals with Magic Marker of advertisements to present to local businesses and then converting them to artwork for production.

From newspapers I moved in to the design for print sector of the industry working for a small local printing company. After a spell working for small and medium sized print companies I took the decision to start my own business and set up my own freelance design company.

The time I spent freelancing gave me opportunities to work on all manner of projects utilising all my skills indulge my passion for drawing and painting.

After five and a half years working for myself I was lured back in to full time employment at one of the UK's leading print companies rising to a management role in charge of a marketing team. When my role turned gradually in to a more managerial and less hands on role, the opportunity arose to go in a different direction, one that I have always wanted to take. Now I am a full time professional artist devoting my time to portrait and illustration work whilst sharing my passion for art with others and passing on my knowledge and skills to those wishing to learn for pleasure in my studio learning environment.
