Involve (Next Stage)
INVOLVE
Involve works with Social Services day centres for elders and adults with learning disabilities, the length and breadth of Nottinghamshire. Working with professional artists, Involve provides exciting opportunities including performances, creative workshops, festival events and in house residences. Involve focuses on offering choice, developing life long learning, social inclusion and promoting independence.
GENERAL PROGRAMMING OUTLINE:
ARTS CLUBS (2002-5); These were planned for centres to meet in a community setting experimenting with new artforms and working with other centre users from around the county. The programme has moved on from these, developing more centre lead residencies.
RESIDENCIES (2002 - ): These are ongoing and an exciting element of the programming offering centres the chance to work with artists in their centres on their own projects. Dramatic pieces of artwork have been produced and interesting ongoing projects have been initiated with residencies.
PERFORMANCES (2002 - ) We offer centers a chance to see professional touring companies in local community centres, also social services day and residential centres.
TRAINING (2002 -) The project has offered 3 training elements so far uniting carers and artists, maximising the use of sensory rooms and developing the health video package with staff.
EVENTS (2002-) the project has seen a variety of big culmination events such as Parklife, Diverse Dance, the Showcase, the Carnival most recently Hullabaloo. These have offered a unique day event uniting service users from around the county and often the public in a celebration of the work undetaken in the project.
EVALUATION: The project has always ensured that artists, staff, managers and service users have had the chance to evaluate the project and what they take part in. As of this year we will be working with Nottingham Trent University on academic evaluation processes to ensure that feedback is measured and it will validate the projects successes.
