Long Journey Home Professional Practice Day (Q Arts)
To coincide with the last day of Terminal Frontiers by Virtual Migrants, Q Arts hosted a Long Journey Home Professional Practice Day for artists in exile based in the East Midlands. Long Journey Home is a regional initiative encouraging creative engagement between artists from new and emerging communities in the East Midlands. The project will support the many talented migrant and exiled artists living in the region by providing training and access to mainstream arts provision.
Long Journey Home is staged this day of artistic sharing so artists could come together to help shape the development of a vibrant and sustainable arts programme for all the diverse communities in the region. The day gave artists the opportunity to identify their own professional development needs, network with a range of arts professionals and promoters and explore creative possibilities and collaborations.
the programme included
• introduction by Long Journey Home
• ‘artform’ workshops
• nationality / broad community group workshops
• city group workshops
• session by Aidan Jolly & Kooj Chuhan – two artists from Virtual Migrants
