New Public Art Commission for Spalding Art Trail

Wed 14th January, 2015 by Transported

Spalding Public Art Trail Commission

Transported is looking for an experienced and innovative artist to undertake the first of a series of public art commissions in Spalding town centre.

Transported is working with the Spalding & District Civic Society to undertake the first of a series of public art commissions, the first completed and installed during 2015, as a catalyst and inspiration for the other pieces. This commission and the collection would take the history of the town’s historical market as its theme, exploring a range of techniques, materials and approaches to create high quality, innovative and stimulating artworks. The selection process is through open submission in response to a commission brief, leading to a shortlist of artists selected by the lead partners being commissioned to create a small number of maquettes (small scale models) of their proposals, that would form a small exhibition for display in the town (and elsewhere).
