Environmental and Sustainable
Art, Craft, Design and Technology
Workshops, Kits, Products and Prototypes
Background
Craft Times, established in 2003 by Design and Technology Teacher, Mark and Engineer, Heather Clarke operate an Art, Craft, Design and Technology themed business delivering environmental and sustainable workshops to a family audience, at a wide range of venues nationwide including but not exclusively, festivals, events, schools, clubs, charities and private parties.
Craft Times supply unique project kits and products as well as designing and developing prototypes.
Craft Times are involved in developing potential energy producing kinetic sculpture as part of ‘e’ exhibition, available for display at exhibitions, festivals and events throughout 2011 and 2012.
Most recently Craft Times are developing small scale portable green energy systems to assist in supporting festivals and events renewable energy requirements.
Workshops and Project Packs
Craft Times have a large selection of project’s (around 60) ranging in media, craft, skill requirements, price and duration from our most recent development of the ‘Power Station’ ideal for festivals and events;
Briefly this involves participants transforming a power station sculpture into one of three alternative green energy alternatives:
1. A green house – energy from food,
2. An energy efficient house – saving energy and generating green energy,
3. A Sports Gym – energy from human activity.
The project is ideally delivered over a minimum of two days with a number of contributing workshops.
To our many and varied shorter make and take projects including our very own Helix wind spinner, solar powered lanterns, recycled flower planters, recycled cardboard furniture and our ever popular dancing bugs.
A full list of projects is available on request, alternatively we are able to develop projects for client’s specific requirements.
Design and Manufacture
Craft Times work with our clients to design, prototype and manufacture individual items or small batches of wood based products.
Products
Craft Times manufacture the Helix, a beautiful wooden wind spinning sculpture in a range of sizes from 6 inches to 6 meters. Helices are made from sustainably sourced cedar, a very durable material suitable for display either inside or outdoors.
Treelix, a conifer shaped helix representing a topiary tree that moves/rotates in the wind. Treelix is available in a range of sizes from 6 inches to 1.5 meters and is suitable for ‘planting’ in pots or directly into the ground for very unusual and unique garden features and alternative Christmas decorations.
Potential Energy producing Sculpture
Our most recent development, The HiG, is an eight foot diameter potential energy producing kinetic wind sculpture. A beautiful cedar wood spherical shaped Helix arranged in a series of stainless steel gimble rings allowing the Helix to rotate, spin and tumble in any direction/orientation. The HiG incorporates coloured LED light bars to give a stunning night time visual effect.
Portable Renewable Energy Systems
Craft Times are involved with the research and development of small scale green energy systems in order to assist in supporting the energy requirements of festivals and events.
We currently offer a solar powered low voltage LED lighting system for a small marquee.
In 2011 we will be offering a self contained 400W (max peak output) duel powered, solar and wind generator. This unit offers the benefit of replacing a small petrol generator.
Further details on request.
