SURTAL ARTS is a dynamic South Asian arts agency in the UK

WHO WE ARE
We work to promote awareness of the beautifully unique art forms found in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan through professional yet ever-colourful delivery in education, community, corporate and charity environments!  Founded in 1994 and based in the East Mids, Surtal is now one of the UK's leading South Asian arts agencies.

WHAT WE OFFER

At Surtal we have an extensive resource of NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS specialising in:
~ DANCE (Indian Classical, Semi-Classical, Bhangra, Bollywood, Street and Contmeporary)
~ MUSIC (Indian Classical/Folk/Latin percussion, Sitar, Harmonium, Classical & Folk vocals, DJing, MCing)
~ VISUAL ARTS (Photography, Rangoli, Mosaics, Graffiti, Alpana, Clay, Fibre Glass, Bronze works)
~ THEATRE & LITERATURE (Storytelling, Creative Writing, Drama)

We are renown for our creative and versatile approach to education, community, young people and professional commission works. Past projects have seen us sucessfully deliver cross-cultural music and dance commissions, cultural weeks at schools, educational conferences and seminars and large scale outdoor festivals! Educational Programmes
We pride ourselves in delivering professional high quality Educational Programs, where each colourful and memorable workshop is tailored to meet the needs of the individual academic institution and criteria of the National Curriculum. (please see SAAEF for more info)

Regular Classes
Much of our work reaches wider communities as well as the South Asian community itself. We deliver exciting and energetic Regular Classes in music & dance within community centres, schools, youth services and arts centres in cities as well as rural areas over several counties. All sessions lead by qualified instructors! So whether you want to perform, keep-fit, or just indulge yourself in the arts there's always something to suit you!

Artistic Development
Surtal is a forerunner in providing Professional Development for Artists in their varying forms of creativity, and is known for producing exciting works of cross-cultural collaboration with local, national and international artists!

Young People
Our Asian Arts Youth Forum (AAYF) is an organisation founded and run by the Young People of Surtal who are dedicated to discovering, developing and showcasing Young talent in the arts, and works to make South Asian arts more accessible for youth in the East Mids through fusing it with Urban and Contemporary genres.

Festivals & Events
Each year we are host to a vibrant diary of arts events, including annual youth showcases, Bollywood dinner & dance, Women-In-Arts day, classical/fusion musical concerts, visual arts exhibitions and much more!
The range of events vary from year to year bringing in internationally recognised artists as well as up and coming talents to a venue near you.
Our annual Diwali In Derby showcase and Lantern Parade are most popular and regular feature, as well as the hugely anticipated biannual South Asian Arts Festival (youth showcase & mela, this June 2010!).
