For two weeks over July and August this summer, six lucky young people from the Derbyshire youth offending service were given the chance to work with the SEND Project in an Arts Award summer programme whereby they were able to explore their individual creative talents in digital music production and urban street art.
The video above shows the wall that three young people designed and painted at Long Eaton community youth centre, which also hand in hand created a new legal graffiti site for young people in the local area to help stop tagging and what is seen as 'acts of vandalism' around Long Eaton.
The Send Project would like to give a massive thank you to all the young people who achieved their arts award, giving another 100% pass rate, and to Leanne Sutton for designing and implementing the summer programme pretty much by herself!
All the young offenders enjoyed the experience and learned some new transferable skills and we are looking forward to delivering another one next year!
