Flaming Skirt Festival is an arts festival travelling round to 6 locations in Amber Valley on 30 June 2012 between 10.30am and 10pm.

It’s is a fun protest because the Olympic Torch Relay is skirting round Amber Valley in Derbyshire rather than going through it. It's an alternative arts festival to shine a Beacon of Light on the invisibility of Amber Valley, a day of carrying the Beacon of Light to 6 different locations for creative events devised by artists.

Each mini-event will last for an hour at each of 6 locations with time to transport the Beacon of Light to the next one: poetry at Shipley Park DE75 7GS, drumming at Ironville NG16 5NN, lunch-stop at Midland Railway Centre DE5 3QZ, games at Ripley Greenway DE5 3ET and then storytelling, mini-skirt sports and dancing at Lower Hartshay DE5 3RP. There will be a mini-classic car show and a mini-dog show somewhere, and cakes at each location, maybe  prizes... who knows? The route and timings are posted on http://www.flamingskirtfestival.blogspot.co.uk

Entry per mini-event: adults £1, child’s age in pennies.

The event has been funded through crowdfunding.
