To write a new play and compose the sound track

Information

Over the last fours years I have been developing a writing partnership with Paula Boulton starting with a monologue for Our Bodies Ourselves, progressing to Act 2 of Women of Steel and then Co-writing River of Life in 2008.

This time the commission, from Corby Women’s Theatre Group, is to research- through conducting interviews with Women in Corby- and write a play exploring relationships between women.

About her…more tales from the women of Corby

Men, so we are told, talk.

Women, on other hand, natter, gossip, prattle, tittle tattle, chat, gab…

But what happens when they do?

Facts get told, memories made, family histories shared, culture is shaped

From seemingly inconsequential snippets of trivia the values of society are handed down.

In this third original documentary Drama by Corby Women’s Theatre Group, we explore another batch of freshly baked tales – fresh from the oven

Tales to entertain and inspire

Tales which will have you howling with recognition, laughter and tears.

As an additional progression the soundtrack for the play will be specifically written to enhance the stories and in places actually tell the story.

I have been developing as a songwriter/singer and was in the live band during Women of Steel at East Carlton Park and sang during the River of Life performance. This time I want to be able to focus on the music telling the stories instead of trying to fit existing songs to the themes inherent in the performance.

I will be working with Paula Boulton, sharing our musical skills and ideas but learning from her experience.
