Reality Bytes (Apna Arts)
November 2001
Reality Bytes was a partnership project between APNA Arts, the NOW festival and Moti Roti as part of the Nottingham City Council ‘n’clusion project.
Originally conceived as a project that allowed ‘at risk’ young people to work with professional artists and technicians to deliver a multimedia animation, it eventually evolved into a master-class where four South Asian women developed their interest and skills within the arts.
The workshops where led by artist Ali Zaidi and culminated in four interactive multimedia films projected at the Broadway Cinema bar.
Each film deconstructed Bollywood and explored the realm between fantasy and reality for British Asian women.
All the women involved in this project have developed well within their chosen career in the arts including moving onto a BA in film media, an MA in photography and working as practicing artists and workshop leaders.
